Custom Hand-Forged Wrought Iron

For centuries, wrought iron has played a critical part in the design of entry doors, balcony doors and windows. What started as a means of providing security has evolved aesthetically into a major architectural element. This was most profound in the European architectural styles where wrought iron designs clearly correspond to the individual period styles of English, French, Italianate or Spanish architecture. As such, wrought iron has become a valuable stylistic element for architects working with the European architectural styles.

Hand-forged wrought iron has become an integral attribute of our entry door product line with nearly 90% of our entry door production involving wrought iron grill details. The aesthetic impact is so stunning, than even the most luxurious carved mahogany doors are completely transformed when combined with a wrought iron grille. The wrought iron elements give the doors a new sense of depth and texture and play off wonderfully with masonry features involved in grand entrances.

We offer a variety of wrought iron designs, as well as, custom wrought iron design services. We work directly with architects and can usually replicate a CAD or hand-based drawing. We understand that commissioning your own wrought iron design can be a demanding process. We work with architects using their CAD files, print life-size paper mockups and can even produce samples.

The craft of hand-forged wrought iron has declined significantly over the past century with most shops focusing on welding of mass manufactured catalog parts essentially doing metal fabrication. Authentic wrought iron requires a certain amount of hand-forging which is essentially done using techniques developed centuries ago. Our shop is located in Europe and is predominantly focused on hand-forge techniques, with a number of craftsmen holding professional degrees in “Artistic Wrought Iron Craftsmanship” certified to work on government mandated historic reconstructions.
